Privacy Policy

Effective 16 September 2026

The short version. Your tasks, your home details and your notes never leave your device, unless you choose to send us a task as a template suggestion. There is no PadPing account and no PadPing server holding your data. What you record stays on your device unless you export it yourself, send a suggestion, put it in an email to us, or your phone's own backup includes it.

What PadPing stores on your device

PadPing keeps everything it needs to run your maintenance plan in local storage on your phone. That can include:

None of this is uploaded to PadPing. There is no sign-in, because there is nothing to sign in to.

What we measure

We collect a small amount of anonymous usage data so we can tell whether the app actually works: whether people finish setup, whether tasks get marked done, and whether anyone comes back after a week. Specifically:

None of this includes anything you typed. We never receive your notes, your address, any detail about your home, or the names of your tasks, except in a template suggestion you choose to send (below). There is no account to attach it to, and we do not try to identify you. This is handled by PostHog, our analytics provider.

Every event also carries basic technical information, attached automatically by PostHog: the device type (always "Mobile"), your device manufacturer and model, whether it is a simulator, operating system and version, screen size, language and time zone, PadPing's name, bundle identifier, version and build number, and the analytics library's name and version. Each event is also tagged with random identifiers generated on your device: one for the app install, a separate device identifier, one for the current session, and one for the event itself. None of them is your name, your email, or an account, and we never connect them to one.

We have turned off PostHog's location lookup, so no city, region or country is worked out from your connection. As with any app that talks to a server, the request itself travels over the internet and carries an IP address. We do not use it to work out where you are.

We do not record your screen, we do not use advertising SDKs, and we do not sell or share this data with anyone. If what we collect changes, it changes here first. See Changes to this policy.

Suggesting a template

If you create a task PadPing didn't already know about, you can choose to send it to us as a template suggestion. When you tap that, a box opens pre-filled with the task name, and you can edit it to anything you like before sending. We receive the text in that box and the category, along with the same technical information that comes with every event (above), and nothing about your home.

This only happens when you tap send. If you never use it, nothing is ever sent.

Notifications

Reminders are scheduled locally by your device. PadPing does not use push notifications delivered from a server, so no notification token is registered with us and no reminder content leaves your phone. You can decline notification permission and still use the app.

Backups and exports

You can export your PadPing data from Settings. The export is plain JSON that you control: PadPing does not encrypt it, so anyone who can open it can read it. Store and share exports carefully.

PadPing has no backup of its own. If you delete the app or lose your device, your PadPing data goes with it, unless you exported it first or your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) included it. Whether that happens depends on your device's backup settings. Those backups are held by Apple or Google under your account, never by us.

Permissions

PadPing does not request location, contacts, or photo-library access. Your ZIP code is typed by you during setup and is used on-device to set seasonal timing; it is never sent to us.

This website

padping.co is a static site hosted by Netlify. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, and includes no third-party trackers or embedded scripts.

If you join the early access list, the site collects the email address you submit, using Netlify Forms. We use it to tell you when the beta opens and when PadPing reaches the app stores, and for nothing else: no newsletter, no sharing, no selling. Ask us at any time to remove your address and we will. As our hosting provider, Netlify processes submissions and standard web-server request data, including IP addresses, on our behalf.

Children

PadPing is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

What you control

Changes to this policy

We will update this page as PadPing changes, and the effective date above will change with it. Anything new that would change what leaves your device, such as accounts, a backend or crash reporting, gets a review before it ships, not after.
